About

Dance has never been about being good at it.

Deb, founder and instructor of Boogie Babies

Hi, I'm Deb.

I've been dancing for as long as I can remember, and teaching since 1992. Studios, community centres, church basements, gymnasiums with terrible acoustics - I've taught in all of them, and the thing that keeps me coming back is always the same: watching someone realize they can do more than they thought.

Along the way I earned an Honours BA in Kinesiology from Western University and a BSc in Occupational Therapy from Queen's University. That training shapes everything about how I teach. I know how bodies work, how they change, and how to adapt movement so that the class fits the person instead of the other way around.

Boogie Babies started because so many of the people I taught disappeared after having a baby - not because they stopped wanting to move, but because nothing out there made room for them. So I built a class that does. You bring your baby. You move at whatever level your body is at today. You leave with a couple of new phone numbers.

Babe Riot came out of the same instinct: adults who want to dance, sweat and blow off some steam, without an audition or an ego in the room. GentleFit is there for anyone who wants a lower-impact way in - same music, same energy, different gear.

My whole mission is simple: make movement accessible, make it fun, and make the room feel like somewhere you'd actually want to spend an hour.
